A Hard Week....A Sad Day

We got a phone call last week from our dear friends from church, Brian and Melissa Deaver. Melissa is 17 weeks pregnant with twins, and was having contractions. The doctors were able to put her on medication to stop the labor, and after a few days in the hospital they were all able to go home. After being home for a few days, the labor began again and this time there was nothing the doctors could do to stop it. So, on Monday, February 22nd Wyatt Christopher and Eloise Ann Deaver were born into this world and after 20 short minutes with their parents, went home to see Jesus. We had a memorial service in their honor this morning at church.

Brian and Melissa are devout, Christ-loving, godly people. They have a beautiful daughter, Zoey, who is just a few months younger than Josie. We've enjoyed our growing friendship with them since our move to Houston through our Sunday lunch ritual and Life Group. Melissa lacks about 6 weeks finishing up her pharmaceutical degree and Brian is in his first year of medical school.

I know that Brian and Melissa will look to God as their strength during this hard time. They are surrounded by a loving family and church family. To help myself cope, I've been reminding myself of the passage in Isaiah that says, "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than Your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9)
I've also had the lyrics to this song stuck in my head:
You are God alone, from before time began
You were on Your throne, You were God alone
And right now, in the good times and bad
You are on Your throne, You are God alone

Please continue to keep the Deaver family (and the West U church family as we love and support them!) in your thoughts and prayers.

  1. Oh, my heart breaks to hear of the loss of this family! I pray that God will carry them through this time and give them the kind of peace that only He can.

I am looking forward to keeping up with your family on your blog. Welcome!
